Professor Michael Lacey and His Contributions to the Field of Mathematics

Although many mathematicians are not that popular, they immensely contribute to adding mathematical knowledge. Michael Lacey is a renowned mathematician and a mathematics professor at Georgia State University. Born in 1959, Michael Lacey grew to love mathematics.

Lacey is very passionate about the subject, and his commitment and hard work are evident. In 1987, Michael attained his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Illinois.

Before then, Michael had graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. After his education, Michael Lacey became an academician and worked at Louisiana State University as an assistant professor. He later moved to the Indiana University and the University of North Carolina where he taught mathematics as an assistant professor.

He later moved to Georgia State University where he became an associate professor. After two years, the university granted him tenure, and Lacey became a full mathematics professor.

Throughout his career, Michael has solved numerous mathematical problems. For instance, he explained random walk using the probability theory. He focused on magnitude fluctuation as used in empirical characteristics. This law is known as the iterated algorithm law. Professor Michael Lacey later focused on harmonic analysis.

In 2012, Georgia State University honored Michael Lacey for being an exceptional mentor. The university awarded him the Advanced NSF Mentoring Award. In a Berlin congress held in 1998, Michael Lacey was given an opportunity to talk to mathematicians drawn from various parts of the world.

Being a mathematician isn’t easy. It requires a lot of patience and hard work. This is why Michael Lacey continues to be respected and honored for his contributions to the field of mathematics.
